Where did January go??
Well I have not been very good about updating my site at all in 2009. I commented on my sister's site and notice that my last post was wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
So here is a quick recap of what all has happened in January. I spent a wonderful Christmas with my family. Work was crazy and we even worked on New Years Day! We actually had a "snow" day in January...well it didn't actually snow, but the streets froze over with ice and in Texas when we get ice everyone stays home. It's not just because of the cold, we don't have the equipment like they do up north to clear the roadways and we usually get a layer of solid ice and I don't care how good of a driver you are, it is not easy to drive on solid ice.
I turned 40! Yes I turned turned 40 lol. My office and vehicle were decorated by my husband, kids and niece so I would have constant reminder all day long. It really hasn't bothered me too much, you know I look at it this way it is better than the alternative!
This one actually happened on Feb. 1st, but we went to an old friends house to watch the Super Bowl, he is a HUGE Steelers fan. We were all dressed in our Steeler's garb and had a terrific time. He is a newlywed and it was so nice to spend some time with his new wife.
Well I guess that about covers it, maybe just maybe I won't miss another month! :-)

1. A maid that will keep my house clean and cook our meals. :-)

8. A gourmet kitchen.....for the maid of course.
9. Walk in shower with one of those waterfall faucets....mmmm relaxing!

Life
I received this email from my grandfather today, and just went wow. I jut felt it was a great insight and plan on using many of these ideas in my life. (I already have been reading more :-) Hope you enjoy!
1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day to pause and think.
3. Buy a tape recorder and tape your late night shows to get more sleep.
4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose today is to __________.'
5. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
6. Play more games and read more books than you did in 2007.
7. Take time to practice meditation, yoga, tai chi, and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.
8. Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.
9. Dream more while you are awake.
10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
11. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.
12. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
13. Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.
14. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts, or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but, the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.
17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
20. Don't take yourself too seriously. No one else does.
21. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
22. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
23. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
24. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years will this matter?'
26. Forgive everyone for everything.
27. What other people think of you is none of your business.
28. GOD heals almost everything.
29. However good or bad a situation is it will change.
30. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
31. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, or joyful.
32. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
33. The best is yet to come.
34. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.
35. Do the right thing!
36. Call your family often.
37. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements:
I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.
38. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
39. Enjoy the ride. Remember this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy the ride.

Happy 13th Birthday Alyssa!
Wow, where did the time go? I remember being a kid and hearing my parents say this, and at the time it seemed like Christmas only came every five years! As an adult I find myself saying this a lot lately.

Ten on Tuesday #9 - 10 Things that Scare You/Freak You Out
This one was pretty easy for me, I am a scaredy cat!
1. Not hearing from my kids or husband and thinking something bad has happened to them.
2. Tornado's - Living in Texas we get our fair share of close calls. Our business was struck by one that hit in Downtown Fort Worth, luckily we weren't there but it took months to get things back in order.
3. Losing a close family member. I have been very lucky and am so thankful this has not happened to me.
4. Feeling like I have let someone down. I become obsessed in trying to figure out what I did wrong.
5. Really scary or freaky movies. When Night Falls is one of them. It's not like there is an evil tooth fairy out there that is trying to kill people, but I had nightmares about that movie!
6. My kids and their future. We always wish the best for our kids, but I sometimes panic that I have shared with them all they need to know.
7. Throw up. Enough said!
8. Having someone come over when my house is in shambles.
9. A bad hair day.
10. Broken hearts. No matter how hard you try to mend them, they will never go back quite the same again.
